Skillhouse Development was founded by Crystal Islam, a learning and development consultant, facilitator, and instructional designer with experience across finance, biotech and life sciences, and technology organizations.

Her career spans in-house L&D roles within both large global organizations with more than 100,000 employees and smaller private companies. In her consulting work, she has partnered with law firms, private wealth management firms, and small to mid-sized organizations to design and deliver learning experiences that meet the needs of different audiences, teams, and business environments.

Crystal has helped build learning curriculums from the ground up and brings a perspective shaped by both facilitation and instructional design. Starting as a facilitator gave her a strong understanding of what makes learning resonate in the room, while her practical experience led her to build a broader range of solutions and experiences. Her work has included traditional professional development workshops, manager development programs, leadership retreats, offsites, and team-building and engagement experiences.

She also brings an international lens to her work, having facilitated programs across the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Her approach is practical, thoughtful, and grounded in real-world application, with a focus on creating learning experiences that are engaging, relevant, and aligned to business goals.
